1. New Software Notice alert!

The new Web Graphics Creator (version 4.0) will be out soon.

For now, version 3.0 is still active and works great on most Windows machines. It no longer runs on Macs using Lion or greater... (but the new version will fix this)

So hang in there! It's almost done!

Very Frustrated. Where are tutorials for creating ebook covers

I have been using the logo creator for some time now, so I assumed that I would be able to figure out this ebook cover program. I am not a graphics guru at all and that is why I like laughingbird products, but I am really struggling with using this program. I read all the tutorials available so far and there seems to be no manual. I do not understand rendering and realistic view and I can't even resize the 3D demo anymore.
I have tried all three and someone send me web ready work for their book, and I can't figure how to configure it so you can read the actual text.
I am very good at following directions but I have not found good directions that take me through this step by step.
To the very end, the tutorials just stop and don't even explain all the above.
I really could use some help and then there seems to be the "old ebook cover" program which looks easier to me with way more directions and support.
I really need this software and want to figure it out, help!

I apologize- I must have missed this thread. In the future if you are not getting your question answered within a day or two, send a PM to any of the mod's who have knowledge in your particular area of concern.

    Thanks and good luck,

Well that link I posted was the same stuff as on the website.
I found those "tutorials" very unhelpful.
I finally, after spending a whole day working with the program, reading threads in here and just playing around, figured out the basics.
I think that is wrong. I suggest a much better, start to finish tutorial, and not just using the art center layouts.
Also using video like Camtasia, so we can see what you are doing.
I love your stuff, but this one was very frustrating and I still don't understand it completely.
I buy your products so I don't have to use photoshop, so I need a bit more help, and I think I am your market demographics.

    Thanks

Your right on target with the video tutorials... That is actually something we've discussed and I'll be working on something shortly. Shoot me an idea for something as a beginner, you'd find useful in a step-by-step manner...

    Thanks for your reply.
Honestly the most helpful tutorial you could start with, would be to go through each "tool" and what it does, and do that in each of the 3 settings.
    That was my main frustration.
Then show how to save each type of file, (show not tell)
Importing images and all that is fairly basic, but the program
was not that easy to figure out, and I hit buttons that made things huge, and I did not understand "rendering" and I am having problems with the flip book. My photos show in the program but then only 3 or 3 of them show on the finished product. Plus the usual firefox issues.
I also can't see my desktop when I am in the programs and that is really annoying. I have to hit the window button to get to the desktop.
What is animate and auto animate?
That is just a few questions I have!
I would love to chat with you if want to talk off line.
    Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Linda

If you want to use GIMP, there is a series of video tutorials for making ebook covers with it at

    http://www.makeebookcovers.com

(GIMP is an open-source version of Photoshop. OK...not exactly, but enough to do what you want it to.) :)
