Transfer to new machine

    Hi

    I've got a new machine and want to be able to use Logo Creator on that.

    I've managed the download from the CleverBridge links and all looks as if it should work, but when I click on the icon on the desk top or in the start menu, nothing happens!

    Do I need some activation key or something and how would I enter it if the software isn't even loading, please?

    What OS and where did you install it too? If a Windows system check for and delete any DS_STORE files!!!

    It's a WIndows 7 installation. (My previous one was XP).

    Here's the path to my templates, which have copied across fine.
    C:\Users\joy\Documents\Laughingbird Documents\Logo Libraries\Logo Libraries\My Templates

    I looked for DS_STORE and didn't find any, but thanks for the suggestion.

    Joy, is there more than one user on your computer? Run as Admin. I don't see any pathing with Logo Elements. Make sure that your Adobe Air is current. Path should look more like C:\Users\(Your Name)\Documents\Laughingbird Documents

    What did you use to unzip files with?

    There are 2 users on the computer Joy and Russell (my son), but as far as I know I have Admin rights. To be honest I wouldn't know how to tell. I don't know much about the technical stuff.

    I updated Adobe Flash (is that what you mean by Air? That's what I got when I Googled it) to version 12,0,0,43 just now. (I also did an update yesterday I think - it looked familiar!)

    I did a clean install onto the new machine from the Cleverbridge download instructions (which was what the support ticket told me to do.)

    The templates I copied across using DropBox.

    My main problem is not that I can't access my templates, it's that I can't even persuade Logo Creator to load at all.

    PS I just found that I could right-click logo creator on the menu, which gave me an option to Run as Administrator, which I did, and it still doesn't load.

    PPS I found something that lets you apply Compatibility patches, told it I had been running in XP, applied various patches as suggested, and it still doesn't load.

    Did the get.adobe.com/air thanks, and did another completely clean install.

    Also did another clean install and unzipped with newly downloaded 7zip

    Sorry, didn't make it clear - it was getting late - but after doing those it still doesn't load.

    Joy, did you download V6 first. Is there a V5 downloaded also?

    No, I didn't put V5 on. I just took the clean download from the Cleverbridge support ticket.

    As I remember it one needed V5 on the computer to get the V6 to work....(although not compatible it had to be there). V6 has to be on the machine in order to have the templates show. V6.6 didn't have templates just had some functions in it. Make sense?

    The programs I had you download will prevent further issues.

    OK, well I don't know where to get a version 5 install from so I'll just dropbox the lot from old machine to new and see if that works!

    If this is the case, the Cleverbridge instructions need amending, because they only sent me version 6!

    I've set dropbox going and it'll probably take a long time. Will let you know.

    V5 would have to be a prior purchase...before Cleverbridge. How long have you been a customer of Laughingbird Software? There have been updates and upgrades along the way that confuse things.

    My receipt was from Cleverbridge and, as it happens, was for version 6. I sent my order number to Cleverbridge and they sent me the instructions to download v6.

    Anyway..... I have now wiped LC related from the new machine, done a complete Dropbox transfer and it still doesn't work. Tried adjusting compatibility modes too and permissions.

    I just noticed..... it actually gets into the Task manager as if it is running.

    What a mess.

    Not sure I can follow this Joy.
    KD's tried to help, but I think this copy and pasting is just not the way to go.

    We need to start from scratch.

    Let's get you set up with version 6.6
    Then, we'll try and open up the older sets from Cleverbridge so you can redownload and simply install the add-on sets.
