1. New Software Notice alert!

The new Web Graphics Creator (version 4.0) will be out soon.

For now, version 3.0 is still active and works great on most Windows machines. It no longer runs on Macs using Lion or greater... (but the new version will fix this)

So hang in there! It's almost done!

I'm sorry guys but this software is full of bugs, I've spent hours trying to get it to work properly both local and on-line. I just don't have any more time left to spend.

I have been through the forum and tested the relevant answers, and tested the parameters from the help file, but the program still does many strange things that suggest many bugs to me.

I'll have to wait until the next update to really appraise it (and use it hopefully).

I note too that the flip book sample on the index page of http://www.webgraphicscreator.com/ doesn't flip either. Not in my IE 6 with XP anyway.

Hi Graham - what exactly are you having troubles with?

I'm using IE6 and the flip book works fine for me. You have to click on the corner, drag it and release. Are you doing that, or just trying to click and expecting it to turn the page.

Let us know what's up and let's see if we can't get you up and running. I've only did a few tests flipbooks, but I know others that are using it with huge success.

Don't give up until you've exhausted all avenues of help and then if we can't get things working for you I'm sure Marc (Laughingbird) will make it right with you.

Thanks Randy for your reply. I'll make it quick as it's gone midnight here.
    I'll post the details tomorrow.
Incidently I have tried opening the sample flip book in IE 6, Firefox, Opera and Safari from the same PC. None flip the pages although the sounds do activate, and yes I have been using the correct procedure to flip.
I'm using the latest OS updates and latest browser updates except for Opera.
    Regards
    Graham

I had issues at first too... how are you image files named? If they have spaces, or long names you might have issues... Try number them, and then import... If that doesn't work, let me know... Back in the day, Marc and I spent countless hours getting it too work right on my system...

    Error messages?

    Flip Book

    Thanks guys
I've managed to (at great length) complete and upload a flip book that works, with the exception that it loads with the book open even though I've set it to unopened. You can have a look at http://www.fds.org.au/guidetocoping.html. I do need the book closed to present the front cover on first opening the HTML page.

A number of things I noted whilst creating the flip book:

    * After I cleared the images for a re-commence from a failed flip book creation attempt, then renamed the images and inserted these images into the program and then published, the folder 'book_images' wasn't overwritten but contained both the old images and the newly re-named images. I had to delete the old images to save me confusion.

    * When I tried to add a single image from the 'Add an image' button the program crashed completely.

    * On publishing the flip book, the published HTML script did not insert the correct dimensions for the flip book as input by me into the program. I had to change these manually in the HTML document.

    * On saving my preferences the created document 'WGC_preferences' contained no data. Was and still is blank. Even after publishing. I don't know if this is significant.

I'm sure there must be many bugs to iron out but I would appreciate some advice on getting the flip book to load initially with the cover page. Thanks-Graham. (Gotta go 2 bed now).

    My XML file data:

    <FlippingBook>
    <width> 425 </width>
    <height> 300 </height>
    <scaleContent> TRUE </scaleContent>
    <firstPage> 1 </firstPage>
    <alwaysOpened>FALSE </alwaysOpened>
    <autoFlip> 100 </autoFlip>
    <flipOnClick> TRUE </flipOnClick>
    <shadowsDepth> 2 </shadowsDepth>
    <moveSpeed> 2 </moveSpeed>
    <closeSpeed> 3 </closeSpeed>
    <gotoSpeed> 3 </gotoSpeed>
    <pageBack> 0xFFFFFF </pageBack>
    <loadOnDemand> TRUE </loadOnDemand>
    <cachePages> TRUE </cachePages>
    <usePreloader> FALSE </usePreloader>
    <pages>
    <page> book_images\02a.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images\03a.jpg </page>

    Flip Book

As a follow up to my previous post I have just noted that my Flip book works in IE 6 and Safari (not the unopened book that I want though as previously stated).

In Firefox and Opera the flip book works but the images are not present just the blank pages.

    ?????

    Regards
    Graham

    Hi Graham.

Open your "Config.xml" file in Word pad (or TextEdit for Mac users) -- Change the backward slashes in the images names to forward slashes:

    <page> book_images/02a.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images/03a.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images/04a.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images/05a.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images/06a.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images/07a.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images/07b.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images/08a.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images/09a.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images/10a.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images/10b.jpg </page>
    <page> book_images/11a.jpg </page>

Let me know if this solves the trouble....

Thanks Marc, implemented the forward slash solution.

The program now works ok in Firefox, however the latest version of Opera has image loading problems and effectively doesn't work.

The forward slashes solution hasn't addressed the unopened flip book problem though. That's my main concern right now.

Sorry you could not access the reply you got notification about. I believe the reason was that the reply was judged to be a spam post and was removed from the thread.

Oh well... It wasn't spam...It was a link to a FREE Flip book for anyone to use as a catalouge.. Haven't tried it yet, but will look into it... The notification I got from WGC supplied the link...maybe thats why "IT" thought it was a spam letter...again I appologize for the maddness:image10:...thanks...captphrank

No problem with the 'maddness' we all have those days :image10:
I did not see the removed post myself but from what you say it sounds like it was a product which competed with a Laughingbird one (WGC) so I can understand why it was removed. After all I can't see Microsoft allowing links to Linux on their site and this is the same sort of thing.
