    Hi,

    I've been able to reference the ad on my blog http://boyswearpants.com but the ad doesn't pull any of the graphics or text from the ad I created.

    What do I need to do to get this to work?

    My ad is hosted on the main level of my server at http://joshuaminton.com.

    Hi FamilyBliss..

    There is a way to achieve this.
    I'm checking on it for you.

    I'll post here in the forum --

    Excellent! I know you won't let me down Marc. I believe in these products (I've bought two of them) so much that I've become an affiliate and will start promoting them forthwith.

    I can't wait to get some flash ads on my blog.

    For Further Reference

    Hi Marc,

    Here is the ad I created as it should look.

    But when I use the HTML code as posted on the tech support page (referencing my specific ad, of course), here is what I get (see right side bar of my blog).

    The ad looks great, I just need it to reference the photos and captions that I created for it.

    Thanks again Marc.

    Hello familybliss,

    It looks like your assets folder is setup wrong on your server.

    1. Did you change the name of any files?

    2. Do you have multiple flash files on your server?

    Your assets folder has to be named assets and nothing else. The names of the files inside the assets folder cannot be changed at all. Make sure when it is uploaded to your server that the .swf file and the assets folder are in the same directory as the index.html file. Place the assets files inside the assets folder and that should do it.

    If you change any of the names in the assets folder the flash reverts back to the original state. Hope this helps. Let me if it doesn't.

    Still Not Working...

    Hi Mac27,

    I actually started from scratch here, deleting all the other files and folders related to the ad on my server. I re-created the ad and put it on the host level of my server alongside the index.html file. I made sure the assets folder was named "assets" in lower-case. The blog is still not pulling the photos and words I created. Could it be something in the HTML?

    You uploaded the correct data.txt right? That is the file that has the info in it. Yes it could be in the HTML. If you uploaded all the files that pertain to the .swf file then it should show up correct. Post everything that is in the assets folder, just the names of the files in it. If possible post your HTML code for the flash.

    I looked at your HTML code. I think there is an error in it. Try this change in it: Your code here

    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="290" height="340">
    <param name ="movie"value="My Ad.swf">
    <param name="quality" value="high">
    <embed src="My Ad.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="290" height="340"></embed>
    </object>

    Copy and paste that code in and see what happens. I made changes to your code. If that doesn't work then I have another idea that just might do it. Copy from the word object to the word object.

    Hi,

    I made the HTML code change and now there is nothing on the blog, just white space.

    Update:

    The file name on the top level of my server (the same that holds the index.html file) is named MyAd.swf

    The assets folder is named assets

    The assets folder contains four files:

    1. [*]DSC02127.jpg
      [*]DSC00033.jpg
      [*]Bittylick.jpg
      [*]data.txt

    The data.txt files contains the following code:
    &dataStr=textField~text1~Replacing Ignorance||textField~text2~with Enlightenment||textField~text3~One Mind at a Time||textField~text5~Boys Wear Pants, Men Wear Trousers||hyperlink~text4~www.boyswearpants.com~http://www.boyswearpants.com~text4_hyperlink~center||image~image1.tar~DSC00033.jpg||image~image2.tar~DSC02127.jpg||image~image3.tar~Bittylick.jpg||&

    The HTML code on the right sidebar of my blog is:
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="290" height="340">

    In this code I think that you have to have a space between My and Ad. Looks like this

    My Ad.swf not MyAd.swf

    Try that.

    OK, I changed it to add a space between "My" and "Ad" on the blog and it's still pulling up the default version of the ad.

    OK I need you to make another flash ad using a diffrent template but the same images and text. And upload it and see what happens. I think it will work, but give it a shot for me and see.

    OK, I tried it over again and I made it simple. I used an ad without any added images but one with added text. It's still not pulling the data file from my server and I'm not sure why.

    Familybliss what version do you have? When flash ad first starts up click on file top left hand corner then on about flash ad. Your version should be there. 1.2 or 1.4

    Hi FamilyBliss.

    I've been doing some research on your dilemma.
    I'm a bit confused as to where you're actually putting the .swf file and the .html file.

    First, let's make sure you're using the most up to date version of The Flash Ad Creator. It should be version 1.4. Pull down the FILE menu and check.

    When you hit the export button, you'll export a .swf file ("MyAd.swf") and an assets folder with the same name: ("MyAd_assets").

    MyAd_assets should be uploaded along with the .html page ... they should both be at the same level on your server.

    If you're using version 1.4 - this should do it for you.

    Now - if you're trying to upload the HTML page to one server and the .swf page to another server, you might have troubles. For now, all of your files should reside on the same server.

    I'm working on a fix for this. This is a Macromedia/Flash issue. They don't allow you to link to an external Flash file. For example, you can't embed a Flash .swf file into your HTML page if it resides on my server. (Does that make sense?)

    There is a way around this - but I'm testing it some more.

    Hope the above helps some FB!

    Mac27, let me know if you're able to get this going as well following the above! I'll test it on my end.

    - Marc
