optical illusion

    i was curious to know how to make lets say a ball look like it is coming at the viewer with only using swooshes or whatever

    That's cool Ty . . . I think of how to statically animate it, as in cartoon animation . . . with successively smaller fading images towards the background. Look up a few cartoon animation sites and you'll see tons of examples there . . . I'd stick some pictures in here but my pic-host will fill up and the forum will degrade . . .

    You could do a layering of one of the swooshes like

    I could see taking the image the KD has posted and placing your ball in front of it....I think it would look like it would be 'coming at you'.

    Duplicate and add shadows to the swoosh, here is an idea of how it would look.

    ok cool that is what i though you meant....the problem i have ran into though is that image is not mine (i did not create it) therefore when i saved it to my computer it has a small white background behind it which keeps me from getting the effect you have done

    so how did you get the background around the ball gone?

    Because I used a screen shot of the ball it was necessary for me to use Photoshop to remove the background. You can use just about any image editor to remove a white background. There are many FREE image editors in the Resource & Recommendations area of the forum.
