im trying to export a flash ad to upload to my website. the site was created using "site maker pro" and there online software. when i export the flash ad ive created to a .swf file it doesnt seem to work on my website...it just keeps saying "loading". Sitemaker pro" says the exported .swf should meet these requirements:

the .swf must be running at 24 fps (frames per second)
the file should be exported for flash player 7 or 8
replace any 'absolute' referenece to _root(in action script code with 'relative' references (this,_parent etc)
mask any animation that goes outside the swf boundary
the generated flash file must be a self-contained swf and created using an 'acceptable' flash generator

i cant find on flash ad creator a way to adjust these settings...can anyone suggest something?

    can anyone help?

Post the html you are using to display the ad and we'll take a look and see.

We have had users before who have used site pro, Actually the best thing to do would be to contact their support and find out why...The problem is not with FAC but with them and their settings, believe me this isnt the only time this has been posted :)

What is the file name of the exported swf? The link that you provided has a flash loading placeholder, is this where your ad is suppose to be displayed??

Chris when I viewed his source code I got the swf as below. Seems a heavily nested location, could this be part of the problem?

    <img src="/communities/4/004/006/393/054/images/4522366864.swf"

    chris,

the place holder you see is were i uploaded the file to. i also tried it with a couple of other files i exported from fac and got the same results. i realize that its probably because of "sitemaker pro" but figured you guys would be alot more help then them. and hopfully im not the first to experience this problem.

and again thanks for all yall's help...it is greatly appreciated. i have several websites i want to use FAC on but just need to figure out a way to post em. :image24:

Doc, that seems to be the banner header and not an ad.

I don't see myfile.swf in the html source at all at http://gbhdesigns.com/ so it won't be displayed until you get it in the page.

hey thanks for taking a look at it, i dont know what more to do other than pass on my sign on info to you and let you see for yourself. i double checked and the file is uploaded to there server and when i click on the file on the page in edit mode it tells me the name of the file but just wont display it. i also went and added another flash banner to www.gbhdesigns.com to see if that one would work and it does the same thing...that file is called flash1.swf both files should be on the intro page now but they just say "loading". i have 8 sites with this company so i really wanted to use FAC to jazz them up. it had been mentioned that this problem had come up before?

The problem I'm having is in finding where the file is mentioned in order for it to be displayed in the browser. looking at the html after entering your site, I can put the following in my browser and view it directly:

    http://www.gbhdesigns.com/communities/4/004/006/393/054/images/4522366864.swf

I should be able to view the source of any page and figure out where the file is located and view it that way without loading the entire page. However, I don't see those 2 files in the source so I'm thinking that the files aren't referenced in the html at all and not being displayed.

Looking at their requirements, I don't see how any of that would effect the file to be, at the very least, attempted to load in a browser. For example, after you create the ad you are given the option to preview it and it most likely loads and displays just fine.

Unfortunately, it looks like the problem is on their side.

thanks so much for trying to tackle this one.

    It's a tough one.
gregghamil - I'm going to ask Flashorama (he actually coded The Flash Ad Creator) about this one.

We'll see if we can figure this one out.

gregghamil... when you initially exported both of the flash ads, did you see them? Did they run correctly before you uploaded them?

ok thanks, ill pass on this info to them but they have already told me they cant help with 3rd party issues. one last try though, the size on the myfile.swf after i posted it for some reason was 3382 by 907... and that is outside thier boundry.. so i reduced the file size by 90% to make it fit. after doing so i see one of the images i have inside my flash file but its really tiny. maybe this will help you find the issue...or not

hey guys...i talked to website animal and this is what they had to say:
"The problem with your file is due to the specific ActionScript code in the
file. It has references to '_root' which mean its authors didn't intend for it
to be loaded into another piece of Flash. If these references in the code were
changed to use '_parent' then you might find they work within your site.

If it were a case of a simple piece of animation, then we would expect it to
work. Unfortunately, the amount of change to the code required makes it
unlikely that it will function in the way it was designed.
