Instead of black, how about a dark green background like a pool table. It would make the 8 ball stand out.
As for the other logo, best not to have something behind the "Billiard Lounge". To hard to read. Keep it simple. No need to overlap things

I agree with Borpean. Go with the traditional green felt color for a BG.

Thanx Borpean. Yes I modeled both my avatar & signature images in 3DStudio Max. I also use Maya for a lot of my 3D modeling.

The "redish green block" you mentioned, I assume ur talking about in my sig. (funny I don't see it here, only in my preview before I submit my replies.) It was origionally created to use as a watermark on my artwork in my portfolio. I just thought it would make a cool forum sig/avatar too, lol.

Glad you guys like it, thanx again.

Just a few ideas to consider: (1) you could line up the balls to make the phone number and (2) you could spell out billiard lounge and use the balls to "dot the 'i'.". I like your second logo, although the type is weak and the shadow makes it hard to read.

I like the first one best, but agree about a felt Green color. Maybe a cue stick as the "L" in billiard. Olden's ideas are also good.

Very nice. I like the texture also. But, just remember, when it's reduced, the definition will fall out and you will have just a green background. I'm guessing that's o.k.?
