    I recently upgraded to LCv5 on a PowerMac G4 733mhz 1.12GB RAM running Tiger 4.5.

Everytime I try to enter text in the text box LC crashes. I tried repairing permissions and restarting, and it still quits unexpectedly.

    Any ideas?

    Hello DrWho.

    I'm sorry to hear this.
I actually created The Logo Creator on a Mac.

When you upgraded, what sets did you previously have in v4?
This text problem sounds very odd.

Any other Mac users out there having this issue?

    Font Crash

    Marc,

LC4 had the basic sets, nothing special. I have LC versions 3, 4, and 5 on the 'puter. And they're all doing this same thing. Could this cause problems?

Tiger on the G4 is an upgrade from Jaguar and not a clean install. I should try v5 on the pismo laptop with a clean Tiger install tomorrow.

If you have Norton/Mcafee's software on your computer you may want to try getting a fresh download of V5 after disabling the Nortons/McAfee's.

No, don't use 'em. Nothing to disable there.

I just loaded TLC v5 on the pismo. It's got 320MB RAM and Tiger 10.4 fresh install. Seems to work great.

:announ: I actually know a "Fix" for this one! It drove me (and Marc Sylvester) nuts for about a year. We fell over this "fix" over on the MacSpeech iListen beta when I couldn't load the latest betas under Mac OS X Tiger. I was asked what keyboard I was using? I have an iMac G5 and use Apple's own keyboard. I remember changing the keyboard configuration to US Extended so I could have the Unicode formats. When I changed it back to US Standard with Roman, the iListen Betas performed correctly.

I figured I ought to try The Logo Creator 5.0 again, because I had the exact same problem you described for months! Guess what? It worked. No kidding! :WOW1:

Yes, Mac OS X Tiger has at least one keyboard configuration bug.

Gee, I wonder if this might be related to the FONT SCROLLING issue that some Mac users have experienced. I am about embark on being a Mac user and it nice to know about such things. Thanks for posting.

Lets see if this fixes it first.

Just because it works on my system doesn't necessarily mean...

I'd like to know if indeed this is what resolves the issue. Maybe the font scrolling is related.

    Oh My Gawd!

    How Strange!

I looked at my menu bar, and sure 'nough, it was US extended keyboard!
Went to 'standard' and everything works.

    Thanks a lot!

    We won one

I'm guessing that when the computer is turned off and the Apple Extended keyboard is being used, that Mac OS X senses it and sets itself up accordingly.

I haven't swapped keyboards yet to test this.

Rob (pritchet1), I really owe you one for this.

    Excellent catch.
I've been testing this on a few Mac keyboards over the past few days. Every one of them crash TLC if the keyboard is set wrong.

    Very interesting.

I sure hope Apple has this fixed in Leopard or the next Tiger release, assuming there is one.

Interesting. Tiger resets to extended keyboard after sleep.
