Hello everyone, I am a new user of the TLC product and I have to admit I like what I am seeing so far. I am working on my first logo and when I export it I get a very low quality image regardless of the resolutions I set in the export screen and regardless of the file type. The Picture and text are very blurry. My canvas size is set to 653 x 290 Resolutions is set to 600dpi and I am using template1

First off welcome to the forum. What edition of TLC is the template in? What file format did you choose for exporting?

Rather than ask you a lot more questions we can probably make it a quicker process if you would attach a jpeg of gif of the logo you made with the template . What operating system are you? OSX or Win??
    Instructions for attaching:
To attach a file to a new post, simply click the [Manage Attachments] button at the bottom of the post composition page, and locate the file that you want to attach from your local hard drive.

I am using windows XP Pro. I have attached the jpg and png files as requested. Although the images look fine when viewed in image viewer, when I use them in Corporate Idenity Creator or Adobe to generate a business card the final product looks very blurry.
    Thank you for your help

Sounds as if you may need to adjust your printer's settings.

    hey moejoe,

i know that when zooming in and out in adobe, either with the magnifying glass, or Ctrl+ or Ctrl-, it is always clear and sharp looking on the increments of 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, etc....but kinda blurry and dull in between these. just a little fyi.

most times the document will open in an odd increment of 66.67% or 33.3 whatever%. just look in the bottom left corner of your document, or even the navigator pallette to the right when zooming in & out. just kick it into another increment and it should clear up.

    hope this helps.

MoeJoe, When you say, "final product looks very blurry", are you referring to something you've printed? or something on your screen? BTW, nice clean, sharp logo you did!

Usually under the printer's "properties" you can choose different modes and "photo" mode is much higher resolution than the other modes.

appreciate all the responses, which reassure me that this product is worth the time spend figuring out the issues. to clarify, I have done all of the above.
    1. I have printed at my printer at home on the highest resolution possible.
    2. I have used Adobe to open the file and save it in every format possible and made changes to most normal adjustments.
3., I have also sent the job to a professional print shop and they refused to print it because the file was too blurry for them to use.
So to be honest I am a bit lost. and finally I went to Adobe illustrator imported the image files from TLC and found out that some of the images like the yellow circles are very blurry as an image. so I had to settle for some other images and create my Logo and BC in illustrator which worked fine for the print shop. but I would still love to solve this issue with TLC and CI so I can create some additional logos and images for web development and print.

it is because they are not vector images that is why your getting the blur!!!

    my thoughts

One of the reasons that he is getting a blurry print out is that his exported logo is actually 1.09 x 0.48 inches for print size.

Maybe if he lowered the dpi to 300 and resize the logo elements to about 800x500 to get a decent print, if not keep resizing the elements if needed.

Below are some tools I used to determine a print size.

I used this tutorial as a reference
    TLC BusinessCard

or go here to get a pixel to inches converter.

Also remember that when resizing an image in PS, many people forget to resize properly by not using the "Resample Image" choices correctly. Another problem is that people forget that resizing a copy, again and again begins to deteriate the quality; instead of resizing from the origional, at all times. It becomes very "lossy".

This is even intensified if your not getting the desired export quality from TLC in the first place. Just a little fyi.

    Logo Purpose?

If you're using only on internet set at 72 dpi's
    canvas @500X500 (I prefer)!
If you're going to print it go to 150+ dpi"s export gif
    Good luck
