    Hello everyone,
    To tell you about myself.
I live in Brampton , On Canada. I am 58 years old and looks like too old for chatting in this forum but I need your advice.

I have an expirience in IT as I had worked before with databases for a few years and know SQL language.
Three months ago I guit my job, because I wanted to do better than just a monthly salary. I thought what I can do in IT fileld on my own and do not depend from others and decided to start a webdesign company. I do not have much expirience in website but I am working on it now. I will website for my business.

I see the beautiful templates on the LaughingBird website and I think to buy and replace the test and pictures for the client. I think this is a good idea for the business.

The advice that I want from you is how to approch this idea?
To find a customer who will be agree on my service reguired to show him the examples of the template. Is it allowed to show on my website the picture of the templates from the Laughingbird site by copying them? If it is not how I can find customer for templates? To buy library of templates is very expensive for me.

I will greatly appreciate any answer.
    Best Regards
    Nadya

    Hello Nadya!
    Welcome to the forum.

If you're new to HTML and website building, I belive the templates on http://www.laughingbird.com may be a little advanced. With these templates, you really need to know a good amount of HTML.

If you know SQL and want to start building a great website, take a look at Joomla (http://www.joomla.org)

Joomla is a 'database driven' website tool. It's open source (free!) and it has a LOT of support. I'm beginning to learn Joomla and it's terrific.

I would also recommend a template size called YooTheme: http://www.yootheme.com ... they build templates for Joomla.

If you're starting out, this may be an easier route to go especially if you already know and understand SQL (and for those of you who don't know SQL, no worries! You don't have to know this language in order to get a Joomla site up and running)

    - Marc

    Hey Marc,

Great thread... I just started playing around with joomla myself and indeed have found it to be a great tool. My uncle is now slightly disabled and he needs a site for his insurance business. I was originallly going to create one for him with a web template, but have since decided to go to joomla for easier administration. Any great free sites for nice joomla templates? I've found a couple, but their layout is too simple.

Vanechka, it has taken me quite some time to understand html and flash. While I still can't code to save my life, I can manipulate someone elses code and get what i want out of it. I have all the major software packages and in fact am just getting ready to develop a business idea. I may need your database experience. PM me when you get time and we can chat...

    Thanks,
    HomeSight

    Hi Marc, Do,
Thank you for your replay guys, greatly appreciate. This is also my idea of starting the business not by writing the code but rather manipulating the code. That is what I did before in my IT job very successfully and would like to start the business by it. I definetely will check the Joomla site.
Mark also adviced me to check this site.

Do, I would be glad to chat with you about my database experience. I had worked with Oracle DB for a years and can write a good query. Let me know how I can help you.

All this talk about html - can anyone direct me to a reader-friendly, user-friendly tutorial for learning html? But is it really necessary to know html to be able to use the logo creator software by laughing bird?

Welcome to the forum Logogal, None of Laughingbirds products require html. You can make complete logos in TLC without using any thing else.
