I'm buying a new laptop (aka "my design center") to devote specifically to TLC. And I'm wondering if Windows 8 touchscreen technology is compatible with the software, and if there are any other particular specs that you guys might recommend. Marc, Glenn, KD-did, Gunsmoke, and/or fellow members... please weigh in.

:big banana:Oh.. and please join me in "The New Computer Dance!"
Isn't this how you dance when no one's looking anyway :)

If you're running "anything" on Vista successfully, then your tech skillset is ridiculous :)

Only in the shower my friend!

Okay, I've never used either Win8 or a touchscreen so can't really help you out. Congrats on the new laptop though! Always fun to see what the new technology can do! Marc or Glenn can probably answer your questions, if you haven't figured it out already!

Do post back and let us know though! In case someone else upgrades. Thanks!! :cowboy2: :dancingdog:

lol...I run my online business on my vista laptop! I use TLC along with creating software, videos and content for my business so I guess I do have a great tech skillset. Vista was never hard for me.

    Hi Les!
Nice to hear from you. ... it's been awhile!

Whatever computer you get (a new computer) will be awesome.
    The newer the better

Not sure if the touch-screen will work. That's a Windows 8.1 feature. TLC will run perfectly, but there are no touch sensitive coding in the app so I'm not sure how it'll work!
Let me know what you experience. Love to hear.

    Thanks for posting this :)

I chickened out on the touchscreen.. haha! But I did get a 17" Windows 8.1 laptop with an AMD 2GHz Quad Processor, and 16 Gigs of ram, and a nice graphics card. I haven't had time to set it up yet, but I can't wait to download TLC onto it. #ImStoked

ALSO: considering installing a pre-release copy of Windows 10..... but I'm scurd......

My experience as been that for the most part it is graphic applications that are the most affected with PROBLEMS with a new OS. Business apps seem to get priorities and it seems to take graphic apps a little longer to catch up. I NEVER jump on a new release....no matter how much I back up.

Have you considered using your old drive as a slave on your new computer? AS ...THE NEW OS AND OLD SOFTWARE OUGHT TO WORK unless YOU ARE A mac USER.

It is just a Toggle switch on the back of the drive being thrown.

I've started backing up all my stuff on floppies..... I know at one time I calculated it it would now take 466,000,000,000 (466 billion) floppies for me to do a basic backup. That's a stack only about 955,000 miles tall.
