1. New Software Notice alert!

The new Web Graphics Creator (version 4.0) will be out soon.

For now, version 3.0 is still active and works great on most Windows machines. It no longer runs on Macs using Lion or greater... (but the new version will fix this)

So hang in there! It's almost done!

    Hi Everyone,

Ok here are the new full size templates for The eCover Creator.

When un-zipping it will create a Directory called [ eCover Templates ].

The directory structure is like this:

    eCover Templates
    Flash Templates
    Photo-Realistic Templates

After un-zipping copy the 2 directories

Flash Templates and Photo-Realistic Templates into your eCover Creator Logo Libraries directory

These 2 new directories will then show up in The eCover Creator's dropdown list and you can now select the different covers.

    best thing since sliced bread....

Homey you've done it, the first set had some flaws but this is the real thing! The instructions are clear and work! the templates show up in the setter and menus! . The colors and labels make finding and choosing the right template a breeze! No doubt one of the very best non commercial "upgrades" ever to come out for any software through a member of the software's associated forum! (well, at least as far as i've seen).
This is a great help for anyone working with the e-cover creator and should be part of the standard kit for future versions of ECC...MARC! (only needs an installer,..nothing else!)
Thanx for the (no doubt) hard work and effort you've put in to this and for sharing the fruits of your labour!

    Thank you MasterDesign,

Yes it was a lot of hard work, the first set we did not know what the sizes were used for but Marc let us know what the sizes were and so I re-did the templates with the right sizes.

It did take some work to figure out how to get them to work in TEC but it was well worth it.

If Marc would like to use these he is very welcome to do so, just my way of saying thank you to this wonderful community.

    New Template Update!

    Hi Everyone,

After MasterDesigns kind words I was looking at the new templates and noticed that the 2 side templates were cutting off the text, I resized the text on the 2 of them so now it will display right...

Please re-download the templates to get the fixed versions.

    thanks Homebiz

    Dear Homebiz,

    Thanks,

    Your templates make this program
    almost usable for me!

I think I can struggle through to
    a book cover now.

I've been using the Logo creator for a couple
of years, and just cannot seem to get the
hang of the workflow to create a book or box cover.

I REALLY appreciate what you have done!

    Hi Jim!
    Nice to hear from you.

Sorry to hear you're struggling with The eCover Creator!

    Here's a quick tip.
Since you're a user of The Logo Creator, this should be fairly easy.

    • Launch the eCover Creator.

    • Load up the first "Module". This module is exactly like The Logo Creator.
Choose "Save to 3D" from the menu! Choose "Front", "Top" , "Side" or what have you.

    • Choose the "Launch PhotoRealistic Module"

    • Choose any 3D Model!

    • You'll see your "Saved to 3D image" already mapped to the eCover.

Launch either of the FLASH modules and you'll see your image mapped to it as well!

    Hope this helps a little!

    - Marc

    Thanks Mark... and....

    Dear Mark,

I'll take your advice and do
    as you say... right now.

    AND....

    I appreciate what it's like
    to run a small business,
    so please don't think I'm
    "throwing rocks into the cave".

    Here's my request,

    please write a simple step-by-step
for a very simple 3d box or book cover
    from start to finish.
(because the logo creator tutorials are good
it's fair to assume knowledge of them).

You will save hundreds of folks
many many hours of gut-burning anxiety.

    As a maximal solution,
spend 200 bucks and have somebody
do a "camtasia" screen shot video
    of creating a box.

The heavens will open and choirs of angels
will sing "Hosana's" and you will be
    showered with the appreciation
    of all enlightened beings....
    (or something like that, eh?)

    HA!
    Hi Jim.

    Excellent post.

    I hear you.
I want desperatly to create some much needed tutorials.

Any eCover users out there want to give it a shot!?
ANY tutorials would be much appreciated. Take a look at Jim's wish list above and start from there! I'll give you full credit with a link back to you and your site!

I need as much help in this as Jim does!

Thanks again for the great post Jim.
I would love to have the Heavens open up and hear the Angles singing "Hosana's" ... or whatever they want to sing! Paul Anka...KISS tunes... Whatever! All fine with me! As long as they're singing!!

I have both Camtasia & Macromedia Captivate

I will create something in both Camtasia & Macromedia Captivate & see which one works the best! Need to clean a few things "off the plate" but it will be nice when I am done...

    Mark,

I must have a different version of this program, "save to 3D" and "top" front" or "side" is also not an option. So far the only thing I have been able to do is to create the graphic, save it as a jpeg, gif, png, then import it into photoshop to build the ebook, box or whatever.

I still have the problem of the colors not being what I've chosen. For example, if I want a certain color outline, or shadow and I try to use it I always get a different color. If I have, say a red background, and I choose a black outline the color that comes out is what the blending of black and red would produce on an art pallett.

Great program, but really need tutorials for those of us that are graphically challenged!

Thanks, I have the newest upgrade but the above problems are still there. I also don't have a clue how to actually build a ebook cover, and how they tie together. Right now all I can do build things in a dimension. I know it's not the equipment...its' the operator!

Let me be first in line

    Hey Homey!

Let me be first in line!

The Logo program I'm OK with
    (actually I love it)

I'm just stymied with the A...B...C of creating
a decent ebook cover or box cover.
(I love the IDEA of the program
    but it's almost unusable without
some sort of guide to get started)

    I wait with baited breath.....

    Hi Everyone,

Ok from what I am seeing in the forum everyone wants the Tutorial for creating eCovers and Software Boxes!

I am going to put the Getting Started Tutorial on hold for right now and work on The eCover Creator tutorial.

I do not have to work this weekend so I will try to get something out by the end of the weekend.

    Enjoy

    Thanks again Homey....

Well... there are tutorials already for the logo maker,
and it's far easier to just blunder along inside of.

Putting a box together properly just is not intuitive!

Please just walk us through the simple creation of a book or box,
front, top, sides and back, put it together, render in in the 3d,
and then make a spinning flash export.
Once that's done, we can all take 'er from there.

There will be a special place in heaven for you

Oh-Oh... Confused - New Templates folder!

    Hi:
I am new to this forum... so please bear with me. Is this New Templates folder for the new Web Graphics Creator software or the old one?

    :image10-1:

    Sorry!

    Regards,
