Guys and Gals I thought I would start the first thread in our new flash section. Fact is that I am ignorant of creating custom flash. If it were not for the Web Graphics Creator, Flash Ad Creator, and etc then I would not even be capable of fooling with it.

I downloaded the Adobe Flash demo once and trying toying with it a lot but did not ever really make any great progress.. Not only could I not create anything really I could also not even edit an existing flash file correctly at all. I like a splash of flash here and there as long as its not over done.

I want to learn how to do custom flash but I think its all the lingo that throws me off.. Flash has its own lingo language that is not relevant to others.. PHP, html, dhtml, javascrip, css, etc all relate one way or another so they were all fairly easy for me to learn pretty well and manipulate them the way I liked.

Shy of typing in "learn flash today" and clicking on the #1 result I wanted to know what helped some of you really grasp how to do flash? What are some good starting points.. Should I just buy a flash program and then just practice doing tutorials on the web? Looking for some guidance from some who know a bit about it..

    Thanks.

Over last 10 years the objective of this "little" software Flash has changed greatly. For the work that you intend to do with your site, I'd suggest you take some basic tutorials at www.webmonkey.com or www.lynda.com (the are good "show me" tutorials based on version of the software you are using).

I am sure you will feel comfortable in a few hours and then you can create stuff or better download from sites like www.flashkit.com and modify as per your needs. (Stay focus on what you need as these sites offer too much info which can at times be discouraging :)

    cheers

Learnflash.com for the money and the strenght of content in the tutorials, it's amazing! The presenter is hands down a flash expert and is not boring by any means. I started my web career with this software and would highly recommend it. The videos are addicting and you'll just want to learn more and more. They start basic and go from there.

As far as I know, making 'flash' is not easy thing to do, You must have formal knowledge on this because some web designing terms are involved.

Speaking of Flash, I thought I'd share this animation. It's so kewel I put it on myspace page. See if you can find all the ingenious ways this animator included the tools from the flash interface as weapons in this battle of "Animator vs. Animation":

Yeah I am not sure that flash is a thing of the past.. Its just not hot right now. Time will go until it rotates back around to where Flash is the latest and newest trend again. It just rotates that way.

Ignorant is putting it mildly. I do websites for friends and felt I wanted fast/easy access to 'flash' banners, etc. I've purchased The Flash Ad Creator, and I'm TRULY clueless. I created a banner with the wizard and finally used the URL of the preview for the "URL Link". I've a feeling that's not correct.

What I want to create, first, are flash banners that are static, just head banners for a web site page. Can anyone suggest a quick method of learning how to do this? Time is of essence as well.

:cough: Anyone with a heart, who can explain the process simply, would be a real life saver! At this point I'd even pay for effective instruction.:image24: HELP!

I am also just learning to make ads with this software, but this I can say:
When you start the software, you have 2 choices Animated Ads which are in flash format & non-animated ads, which are purely images & non-flash.

If you choose the animated (flash) ads, you have access to a short tutorial. Have you tried it out?
You have many dozen templates & just need to replace ad text/images/site url with your own. You can "Preview" what you have created & if satisfied "Export" the result.
A little knowledge of html is necessary to know how to embed the created ad code in your html page.

Experiment a bit, you will find it is not difficult to create ads.

I think there are tutorials somewhere - a search in the forums could help or probably at www.flashadcreator.com I cannot crosscheck as the site is currently offline for maintenance)

This thread was not about having any problems using the flash ad creator software but other flash application knowledge outside of the flash ad creator software. The flash creator softwares are my only hope when it comes to flash. I am ignorant of things like the Adobe Flash software but I'll learn someday.

I agree that SWiSH Max2 is a great alternative for creating flash projects. I also think some should also swing by http://www.selteco.com/ and give Alligator Flash Designer & Bannershop GIF Animator a try...it's great for complete beginners and experienced alike! They also provide plenty of online & in app help tutorials.
