Information found under "Help and Ideas"

The hardest part of TLC is knowing where to find information. Hopefully in short order we will have things rounded up and in one place to get your questions answered .You can find valuable information within the program.

    Making changes to text

Clicking on text opens the left side control panel. Click on "Format" to choose a font, the scale, the letter spacing if you want text at an angle, straight or circular. The first line in text box is for the top of your text that put into a circular form and the second line controls text to be on the bottom .

Hint: if you know the name of the font you want hit F9 and the first letter . This will save a great deal of scrolling.

    Send to Back
Moves your selected logo element all the way to the back behind all other elements

    Group
Use this to Group your items. This comes in handy when you want to move and/or manipulate 3 or 4 objects at a time.
You can also SHIFT click each logo element on the canvas - or drag your mouse over a group of elements. You'll see the grouped items turn red. To UNgroup, simply click once somewere on the Logo Canvas .

    UnGroup
    UnGroups all items

    Lock Element

    Unlock All
    Unlocks everything

    Hide Element
Hides your selected logo element (does not delete it!). This is handy when you're importing your own images or when you need to remove an element temporarily to see how the logo looks without it.HINT: Hides the logo element from view on a temporary basis. It will remain in the dropdown list of elements but allows you to look at different design options without having to make the logo over and over..

    Show Element
Shows the selected logo element again.

    Hide All
    Hides all logo elements

    Show All

    Replace Object Image
Click on an image to select it. When you choose this menu command, you can replace this object with your own artwork. Any image you have on your hard drive.

    Remove White
Removes the white backing from your imported images. Some clip art contains a white bounding box. You can remove this white by choosing this menu command. It's not perfect! Some "crusties" may show up around your imported image after removing the white. This is the fault of the imported image. It depends upon the way it was saved from the author.

    Center Object on Canvas
Centers all elements on the Canvas. Use this feature creativly. It's here if you need it.

    Duplicate Logo Element
Duplicates your selected logo or text element. This will duplicate the current size, color, rotation and other settings you may have on your currently selected object.
HINT:A great time saver when you want to duplicate the same text effects , duplicate then backspace and type the new text you want to add.

    Delete Logo Element
Completly deletes the element from the canvas. Once deleted, you can't bring it back (unless you reImport or use the 'element setter' to input another object)

    Set Canvas Dimensions
Sets the logo canvas size to your preffered setting. For example, if you want to begin a logo with the exact specifications of 300x400, you can set the initial canvas size here.

    Set Canvas Color
Sets the background color of your logo (the background is the Canvas).
You can choose a color from the palettes that appear, or choose your own HEX and RGB colors for a perfect match with your current web site's backing.

    Export Files

Export Resolution click on this and you can set the resolution you want

    Default 1

    Default 2

Custom Export Size canvas here for desired export size. HINT: Hold down SHIFT while dragging or pushing the right hand corner to maintain the original proportions while keeping entire design. Great for resizing and showing off your logos in the forum when the file is too big.

    PNG - with transparency

    PNG
    TIFF
    BMP
    PDF

    JPEGs

    GIF's
TGIF's Gif trancparancy HINT If you want to remove the backing from your image, first create your logo over the same color that your web page background will be. Blue for example.

Then, under the EXPORT menu, choose - "more export options..."
Choose the Transparent Gif button. Your cursor will change to an eye dropper.
Click on the color in your logo that you want to be transparent.

this will do the SAME thing as the image you've posted above in the forum. If you look at the transparent Gif as is, you'll see the same dotted line effect.
However! view your logo on a web page with a (blue) background and you'll see it just as you wish to see it.

PNG is a great format as well. However, not all browswers can read the PNG data correctly (yet).

You should use the transparent PNG option if you'll be moving your logo into a paint program like Photoshop. The transparent PNG feature removes the background cleanly. It looks great in Photoshop!
